Richard Sol is a graduate of the University of Southern California (BS-Architecture 1973) and the recipient of USC’s Architectural Guild Travel Fellowship with which he studied architecture in Japan for one year.  He interned for 6 years with Malibu architect Doug Rucker whose practice was in custom residential design.  In 1980 Mr. Sol was licensed by the State of California to practice architecture at which time he started his own firm.  In 2001, he incorporated his practice.

Richard specializes in custom homes and has been the project designer or consultant on over 450 new, remodeled or restored residences for which he directly provided basic architectural services (design, construction documents & construction administration) as well as post-construction services (additions, remodels, repairs and maintenance).

Richard also provides consulting services to owners and architects for their high-end residential projects.  In the design phase, his specialty is actively coordinating the owner’s program with the architect’s design and the project consultants’ plans.  In the permitting phase, his specialty is scheduling applications, administering reviews and obtaining permits from applicable City, County and State agencies. In the construction phase, his specialty is administering the construction in the context of the owner’s program and the applicable construction contracts to balance a timely delivery of the project with the quality of the work together with the value of the work.
